چکیده

The polychaete Notaulax yamasuisp. n. (Sabellidae) is described from Okinawa and Ogasawara, south Japan, where it was found living embedded in a dead skeleton of the coral Porites sp. The new species is characterized by the presence of a pigmented sub-distal swelling on the tips of the crown radioles, a unique feature among species of the genus. Besides, its collar chaetae have an L-shape orientation, and the dorsal basal flanges of the branchial lobes are long and have a dorsal joint.

Three species of Amphicorina (Annelida, Sabellida, Sabellidae) from Japan, with descriptions of two new species

We describe two new species and redescribe one in the polychaete genus Amphicorina Claparède, 1864 (Sabellidae) from Hokkaido, Japan. Amphicorina ascidicolasp. n. differs from its 38 congeners chiefly in the reduction of the collar, but also in having three pairs of radioles, one pair of ventral radiolar appendages, a bifurcate ventral lobe on the anterior peristomial ring, six abdominal chaeti...

The marine herring myxozoan Ceratomyxa auerbachi (Myxozoa: Ceratomyxidae) uses Chone infundibuliformis (Annelida: Polychaeta: Sabellidae) as invertebrate host.

Sequencing of SSU rDNA showed that actinospores of the tetractinomyxon type, which develop in Chone infundibuliformis Krøyer (Annelida, Polychaeta, Sabellidae) from the northern Øresund, Denmark, are identical with Ceratomyxa auerbachi Kabata, 1962 (Myxozoa, Ceratomyxidae). This myxosporean was found in the gallbladder of the Atlantic herring Clupea harengus L. from the northern Øresund, Denmar...

Sphenopus exilis sp. n. is easily distinguished from other Sphenopus species by its small polyp size and slender shape, although there were relatively few differences between Sphenopus exilis sp. n...

Factors restricting the range expansion of the invasive green anole Anolis carolinensis on Okinawa Island, Japan

The green anole Anolis carolinensis invaded the Ogasawara Islands in Japan, drove various native species to extinction, and its distribution expanded 14 years after initial establishment. A. carolinensis invaded Okinawa Island, but it has not expanded its distribution in more than 25 years, although its density is extremely high in the southern region. To determine whether A. carolinensis has t...
